REI – Reindustria Innovazione is born, a company that takes over the technology transfer and startup incubation skills acquired by Crema Ricerche.

The divestment of Olivetti in the early 1990s led to a profound crisis; to address the challenges of the industrial area it occupied, public bodies and social partners established a cohesive process, developing a shared vision for the area's reindustrialization and revitalization.
From this cohesion, Reindustria was born, through a Program Agreement between the Lombardy Region, the Province of Cremona, and the Municipality of Crema, with the support of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies and the Lombardy Region. This agreement called for the promotion and coordination of activities related to the productive revitalization of the area and the creation of the necessary conditions for the establishment of the Crema Teaching and Research Center of the University of Milan.
The Program, which received strong impetus thanks to the active involvement of trade associations and local credit institutions, concluded in 2004 with positive results both in quantitative terms (investments of €90 million, 200 businesses financed, 735 jobs created) and in qualitative terms in the district's response to the crisis.
In 2005, it was transformed into Reindustria Agenzia Cremona Sviluppo, working to enhance local supply chains.
It was during these years that Reindustria launched and developed the Cosmetics Technology Hub project, now an independent and autonomous entity, which plays an important role in the cosmetics supply chain in the Crema area.
In 2015, with the aim of increasing the company's impact on the local area and implementing improvement and rationalization initiatives, the company's management decided to merge the Crema Ricerche Consortium into Reindustria.
In January 2016, REI – Reindustria Innovazione was founded, a company that takes over Crema Ricerche's technology transfer and startup incubation skills.
Today, REI remains committed to the collective desire of its members to promote the socioeconomic development of the province of Cremona, with a particular focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which form the local productive fabric. REI is a dynamic organization capable of facilitating innovation and the implementation of effective local socioeconomic development initiatives. Its mission is to identify opportunities to develop shared, concrete solutions for broad regional needs. It is a center for rationalization that focuses on supra-municipal projects with long-term impact. Its three priority areas of intervention are:
Territorial Marketing
Innovation and Research
Innovative startups
In 2022, REI - Reindustria Innovazione will move from a mixed public-private partnership to a fully publicly owned company.
